Does being a caring person and wanting to help people make me a codependent?

The long and short answer is simple being a caring person and wanting to help or take care of another person does not make you codependent. What really makes you codependent if you can not create boundaries. If you like to help people and you can do it and keep your peace of mind and needs met then there is no problem. That problem comes when you put other people needs before you own. You as a person can never really solve another person problems. The codependent trap is trying to solve another person problems and not looking at your own.
